Why Tyumen Needs Piers: A Conversation with Ekaterina Zhuravlyova
Today we filmed a conversation that could only have happened in Tyumen: an interview with Ekaterina Zhuravlyova about why the city needs piers and a living river.
We recorded it at Kontora Parokhodstva on the embankment, in a place whose very atmosphere reminds us that Tyumen has always been a riverside city. Outside the windows was the Tura; inside, we discussed how the river could become a fully-fledged urban resource, rather than simply a backdrop.
During filming, we discussed: • why Tyumen needs to develop its piers now; • how piers can serve as small urban spaces, rather than merely places to board a boat; • what new ways of spending time by the water might emerge if the river became part of everyday travel and recreation.
There was no studio gloss — just a lively conversation in a real urban setting.
The interview will be shared soon: 15 minutes on the future of the Tura, piers and a fresh perspective on Tyumen's embankment.
